since the kids were out of school, my husband and i decided to check out a few new places in lexington. we love that the north jefferson neighborhood is so fun and trendy. also the walton area has really got some fun and interesting things going on too. you should make a trip there and check out the cool things going on!
smithtown / 501 west sixth street / www.smithtownseafood.com / smithtown is ouita michael’s latest venture in the hip and trendy north jefferson neighborhood / they are connected to the west sixth brewery and specialize in fresh fish and farm to table / at first i was skeptical, being that i am a vegetarian, but i was really impressed and will be back / we split the vegan “crabcake” basket with fries and hushpuppies and a house salad with smoky tomato ranch / the vegan crabcake was really tasty, and surprisingly close to a real one! we tried it with the traditional tartar sauce and also tried the thai nam pla, which was super spicy! the hand cut fries are so good with malt vinegar! i also love the salad, which was light and pretty and the dressing was yummy! after my kids gobbled down their entrees, they shared some crank+boom ice cream! they were in heaven!
national boulangerie / 264 walton avenue / we had heard so much about this new bakery and coffee shop and had to check it out / the interior is super cool / we took home a fougasse, a box of macarons, a chocolate tarte, and chocolate chip cookies for the kids / i am happy to report that i was really impressed with the presentation and how everything tasted! / i am looking forward to returning when they are in phase 2 of development!
house / 250 walton avenue / www.homebyjsd.wordpress.com / this cute design and decor shop is wonderful / they have super cute and preppy decor like monogrammed pillows and houndstooth ribbon / they have super great gifts and will be debuting their spring merchandise this week / if the chilly weather is getting you down, go check out their cheery pieces
lexington green / a bunch of new stores have revitalized lexington green. now i have always adored joseph beth but confess, i hadn’t been there in a while. we have anthropologie in louisville and it is a fantastic addition to lexington. the real draw for me here was the lululemon. they had a bunch of new styles that were sold out online. sometimes you just need to see something in person to see how cute it is! i wish they would open a full store in louisville, but alas.
i am going to head back on january 7th to check out a big sale at finders keepers market! i am certain that i will try another new spot and i’ll let you know the scoop! hope you have a fun new year’s eve!
