sometimes you just need an afternoon out of town experiencing something a tad different. cincinnati offers some fun new restaurants, new shopping and unique exhibits. it's distinctly more northern than louisville and this lends itself to a more urban and progressive vibe. with the design school at uc, you also have a few more art resources that are fun to explore. here are my picks for an afternoon away!

graeter’s / www.graeters.com / 2704 erie avenue / yes, graeter’s is a chain, but if your kids are like mine, they love a good bribe / my bribe is that if you behave during lunch and shopping, you win a trip to the “original graeter’s” (given its’ old skool exterior) / this location has a bakery and a slue of beautiful candy perfect for gifts or holiday treats / DO NOT miss the double chocolate chip (i like mine on a sugar cone)

rosenthal center for contemporary art / www.contemporaryartscenter.org / 44 east 6th street / in louisville, we are blessed with a pretty great arts scene, but cincinnati has alot to offer as well / really interesting exhibits come through the contemporary arts center / we saw the keith haring exhibit and it was fabulous / currently, the patti smith exhibit looks fascinating / the children’s area is really fun too!
cincinnati art museum / www.cincinnatiartmuseum.org / 953 eden park drive / this is a wonderful museum in a beautiful setting / the permanent collection is lovely / the exhibits that come through are wonderful / we have see toulouse lautrec and a few others that we loved / degas, renoir and poetic pastels, beginning in october, should be great and the american gothic exhibit, in 2014, looks great as well
