when you want to get away for a long weekend, downtown chicago is a great choice. there are posh hotels, fun restaurants and great museums to visit. recently we went for a quick trip and had a blast. we stayed in a great hotel with awesome amenities and it was a treat! we ate at some fantastic restaurants! from great pizza bars to upscale tapas, there are fun and exciting things happening here! the modern wing at the art institute is my absolute favorite and they get great exhibits rotating through! the shedd aquarium was a blast for our whole family. the exhibits were great and the dolphin show was the highlight of the day. there are also all the shopping destinations that smaller cities lack. it's always fun to window shop at high end retailers and my kiddos love the lego store and american girl! by car, it was a super quick trip of 4 hours from louisville. by air, it's one hour and the train is super convenient from the airport.
