recently my daughter turned nine. nine is big stuff! gone are the days of princesses and pretend. so bittersweet. i am trying to embrace it and get excited for the new things she will experience and the girl she has become. i wanted to bring this spirit to her birthday celebration! summer birthdays mean pool party fun, and that is just what we had! we invited all the fourth grade girls as well as her swim team friends to celebrate an afternoon with treats and fun in the sun! we had 35 girls in attendance which made for an awesome afternoon! i love to plan parties, and i can, on occasion, get carried away with it. but, it's just too much fun!! let me share my details!
i then carried the chevron theme on with the favor packaging. our favors were fun! i made elastic hair ties and packaged them in sets of four. i found great elastic ribbon at www.etsy.com! i chose pink with mustaches, pink chevron, pink glitter, and so on. i also found the clear envelopes at www.etsy.com. the pink cards are from www.papersource.com and i finished it off with a seal that coordinated with our invite from www.tinyprints.com. in our favor bags, from target, i included some fun nail polish and pop rocks. i repeated the seal on the front of the bag, to keep the look cohesive!
of course we had to have pink party décor! we chose pink plates and napkins from target, pink cups and spoons from party city, and pink striped straws from hobby lobby. i got silver pails from hobby lobby and monogrammed them with a pink h. i used these to hold the spoons and treats! i used a mason jar decorated with pink glitter ribbon to hold the striped straws.
having known harper’s friends for years, i know speed and accuracy are key when handing out treats, so single serve and individual portions are important. i purchased the most adorable iced flower cookies from homemade pie and ice cream kitchen. they were beautiful and delicious. i also served individual cups of ice cream and sprite! so much fun!
for party games, we let the girls dive for sodas and play with these giant beach balls. the girls had a fantastic time, and most importantly, my sweet girl felt special and loved!
