salted caramels

these caramels are the perfect thing to make with your family on a chilly afternoon! the recipe is fairly simple and the outcome is divine! the whole family can get involved by wrapping up these tasty treats in parchment paper! keep them in the fridge for a yummy treat!


2 cups sugar

1 can evaporated milk

1 cup corn syrup

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons butter

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

½ tablespoon coarse sea salt

cooking spray

lightly oil a 9x13 glass baking dish and line it with parchment paper

pour sugar, evaporated milk and heavy cream in a large sauce pan

place your candy thermometer on the side of the pan

bring to a light boil

add in corn syrup and bring to 230 degrees

stir constantly to prevent burning

add butter, vanilla, and sea salt

bring to 240 degrees

remove from heat briskly at 240 degrees and pour into lined dish

sprinkle with sea salt

let cool until set, at least one hour

using an oiled knife, cut into squares

wrap each in parchment paper
